In his first book in five years, Michael Moore brings us the definitive guide to the 2008 election. After a diastrous war, the failure to catch bin Laden, millions of families who have lost their homes, the Katrina debacle, soaring gas prices feeding record oil company profits, and the largest national debt caused by the biggest spending and borrowing administration in American history, the country has had it with conservatives, right-wingers and Republicans. A thrilling election season is now upon us. Obama vs. McCain. One candidate has promised a presidency different from any other, one that will take us forward to embrace the hope of the 21st century. The other candidate says he has no idea how to use a computer. Welcome to MIKE'S ELECTION GUIDE -- Michael Moore's effort to make sense of the this fall's race for the White House and Congress. In it, Moore answers the nation's most pressing questions: "Why is John McCain so angry?," "Do the Democrats Still Drink from a Sippy Cup and Sleep with the Light On?," Can I get into the Electoral College with only a 2.0 gpa?" and "How many Democrats does it take to lose the most winnable election in American history?" It's a great year to be an American and a voter. Don't miss out on all the fun! And don't miss out on MIKE'S ELECTION GUIDE -- it's the indispensable book that belongs in every American's back pocket this season.

I sat in my local bookstore in this Canadian city and wondered as I went through this booklet as to who would trust Mr. Moore. It makes me very sad that there are still some ignorant people in the States that can't make up their own minds and turn to this uneducated, lying hypocrite attention-seeking quasi filmmaker for political advice. It's beyond me how any one could trust this man and his biased political beliefs. Unfortunately people like Michael Moore live in their own bubble and have no knowledge about the outside world and therefore what they write is not worthy of any one's money and time. Smart people won't need him to tell them what to do or whom to vote for.

Are you kidding me? And people read this? This idiot did not even graduate and people care about his political opinion? Why not just ask your teenager for advise, they are just as qualified. This is a dope smoking artist who does not have a clue about the real world of business or economics. He needs to go back to school and get a business degree and he may have a new outlook. If your going to read for information, read a book from someone with some qualifications.

Once again, Moore demonstrates his inability to grasp some of the basic principles/needs of our nation (strong defense/security and courage)while maintaining his chair at the blame-America-first table.
It was not on the backs of men like Moore that our nation was founded and preserved; rather, it was sacrifices by courageous individuals who embraced honor, integrity and fortitude while constructing the road to freedom. Moore's work is simplistic, readable and somewhat humorous (in a small-brained sort of way)...the perfect gift for the intellectual beggars in your life.

Mike once again cuts through the pseudo-intellectual pomposity generated by most pundits to deliver a straightforward analysis of what's wrong with this stupid country, and what he thinks needs to be done to fix it. I don't always agree with his conclusions--to me, Obama is just one more in a long line of DLC corporatists--but he does manage to show that our problems, while not exactly easy to address, are also not nearly as complex as self-serving political "scientists" and other wonks make them out to be. As a matter of fact, as the book shows, if one ignores the Orwellian spin doctors and applies some good old populist perspective, it's amazing how our most trying social concerns suddenly seem to lose the aspect of overwhelming doom.

Mike Moore for President!

If Moore was honest, then why wouldn't he suspend his Capitalistic side long enough to make his 'election guide' available for free? PDF it out to the masses? (Which he still might do, but only after the sales go to zero)
Please, people. Michael Moore is as much of a 'war profiteer' and 'fear profiteer' as those he criticizes.
He's looking for one more stroke on his massive ego.
Don't give it to him, and let's all watch that ego explode.

I believe he means well, but, once again, Michael falls victim to what seems to be a potent chauvinistic passion and undisciplined tendency to employ anecdotes to support his viewpoints and arguments. One can only hope that more of our electorate will invest in any rigorous education which stresses critical thinking so that fewer and fewer of us will rely on the likes of the Michael Moore's in this world to inform our opinions and decisions.

I have to admit, I am a Ronald Reagan Republican and I used to hate Michael Moore. I hated his 9/11 movie, because it is unbelievably tendentious. His movies are all slanted. His idea in this book that you would arrest any doctor in it for profit is totally idiotic, because profit = efficiency. In effect, what Moore is saying is that he would arrest anyone in the medical field who brings efficiency into the system. A totally idiotic idea and if there is an award for "bonehead idea of 2008", I nominate Moore ! I read his top 10 things a new president should do and just let's list the verbs he uses: "ban", "arrest", "ban", etc. Remember when liberals used to be for freedom ?? (me either, but I read about it once !).

At the same time, I can't totally comdemn this book, because it did bring a smile to my face. His idea to "give everyone free HBO" is asinine and funny all at once. And who would not support that ? His reference to gay marriage, with the picture of the two hot lesbians tongue kissing each other is also funny. I realize that Moore is a guy who is funny and that in my mind redeems him. At the same time, his basic political stance is total horse manure.
I really regret having spent any money on this book. The only time I'm more bored is when I'm sleeping.
