This is such an interesting book, not the least because it's a fictional "documentary", kind of like Marguerite Yourcenar but different. Like if Marguerite Yourcenar was a prospector in Death Valley in the late 1800's. It's an amazing work of the imagination full of vivid detail about the long lost culture and history of what's now San Bernardino County.
