Our simple innovation makes learning logic possible for every level of ability. As children and students use the clues to cross out possibilities in each puzzle, they see information organizing itself into a sensible pattern. By discarding the old complicated matrix and using a process of elimination, a simple method is used to teach complex skills. With our Perplexors, children and students can prepare themselves for standardized test which reward logical thinking. Students will no longer be “tricked” by questions which require them to draw conclusion, and test scores will naturally improve. These logic puzzles present a great exercise for entire classrooms or single students alike. They even give students an opportunity to sharpen their skills while away from school, be it summer vacation just an after school weekday!

Can't say enough good things about this book! My son loved doing these logic exercises. It was much more like fun to him than homework.

My only problem was that it was very hard to tell from the online description what level to buy. I purchased the basic level for my 6 year old kindergartener only to by shocked when it arrived because the back of the book said 3rd-4th grade level. But it ended up being perfect for him. He occasionally needed some help reading the names of the characters in the word problems but overall tackled these with enthusiasm and persistence. I think 1st-2nd grade would be a better description of the appropriate level for this basic book. I will wait a while to order the next level even though he's begging for more.

I love these logic puzzles, and the books MindWare makes come in a bunch of different levels. We started my almost 7-year-old off with this basic workbook, and he is already through to Level A. Those he has needed some assistance with. I don't think he has the patience or persistence to read the puzzles over and over like you sometimes need to in order to figure out every clue. But these provide excellent practice for deductive reasoning skills and he enjoys doing them. (My husband and I have enjoyed doing the Expert Level. . . it's hard!)

I was worried these puzzles would be too hard for my 5 year old, but I was wrong. A good challenge without being too frustrating. They start nice and easy and ramp up slowly. Teaches a skill I wouldn't otherwise know how to teach. I highly recommend these books if you homeschool or think your kid needs a little extra to keep their mind busy. I can't wait until we get into higher levels of these books. I'm actually tempted to pick up the hardest level for myself :)

I bought this basic version for my kindergartner, and it's perfect. I reserve it mostly for long car rides, because it keeps her occupied for long periods of time (we don't really do a lot of "electronics"). Admittedly, there was a learning curve. I had to do the first few puzzles with her, until she understood how the logic puzzles work. After that, it was easy for her, but I liked that she could do them independently.

My daughter immediately picked up the book and began doing the puzzles on Christmas morning. It kept her attention and she kept saying how much she enjoyed the puzzles. Great way to build problem solving skills!

I'm working with some elementary students who are having a tough time with Common Core standards. This book of basic Perplexors is exactly what I was looking for. They're fun, challenging with being impossible, and they're definitely getting the munchkins thinking. I cannot recommend them highly enough for encouraging critical thinking skills for third and fourth graders, who need to grasp WHY to read.

In spite of all the other things we got her for Christmas, this was what my granddaughter settled down with on the couch after opening her presents. She really enjoyed it. Going to get her the next level! This is a great starter book, the puzzles are fun and easy. Beware: easy. If the person you're buying this for has done this kind of puzzle in the past, you may want to go up a level or two.
This was a gift for my 9 year old son, who is advanced in math and loves these sorts of logic puzzles. He's really enjoyed this book on his own as well as working through the puzzles with parents and friends. When he finished this one, I'm sure he's going to want the next level! These are logic puzzles, and the book starts off with simpler ones and progresses to harder puzzles as it goes along.
