He has authored numerous books of poetry and prose and translated the work of Claude Royet-Journoud, Anne-Marie Albiach, and Edmond Jabès, among others. A recent translation is Charles Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal (2006). He won the National Book Award in Poetry for his 2009 collection Transcendental Studies: A Trilogy.

Keith Waldrop, who was awarded the 2009 National Book Award for poetry for Transcendental Studies: A Trilogy, has been a prominent voice in American poetry for over forty years. He is the author of over a dozen books of poetry, prose, and translations. Waldrop was born in Emporia, Kansas in 1932.

A recent translation is Charles Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal, 2006.
