Bray's book is absolutely fantastic as a survey on the history of biblical exegesis.

Bray's book is absolutely fantastic as a survey on the history of biblical exegesis. He provides a solid picture of each of the major historical periods in the development of modern exegesis. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

Gerald Lewis Bray (born 16 November 1948) is a British theologian, ecclesiastical historian, and ordained priest in the Church of England. Born in Montreal, Quebec, on 16 November 1948, Bray holds a BA McGill University and a MLitt and DLitt University of Paris-Sorbonne. He was librarian of Tyndale House, Cambridge from 1975 to 1978, when he was ordained in the Church of England and served in the parish of St Cedd, Canning Town (Diocese of Chelmsford) until 1980.

Bray's book is succinct and informative. I thought the chapter's were choppy and not as fluid as they could have been. Dealing with issues, separated by prominent players of the area being covered.
