Acoustics (McGraw-Hill electrical and electronic engineering series).

Acoustics (McGraw-Hill electrical and electronic engineering series). Contributors are among the world's leading acoustical scientists and consultants, many associated with Bolt Beranek and Newman Inc. Assuming only a general engineering background, Noise and Vibration Control Engineering begins with an examination of acoustic basics: decibels, sound power, and the properties of the various sources that create noise.

Leo Leroy Beranek (September 15, 1914 – October 10, 2016) was an American acoustics expert, former MIT professor, and a founder and former president of Bolt, Beranek and Newman (now BBN Technologies). He authored Acoustics, considered a classic textbook in this field, and its updated and extended version published in 2012 under the title Acoustics: Sound Fields and Transducers.

Acoustical Measurements. whether your interest is as a musician, an audiophile or as a studio engineer this book is a must read! I'm not much good at math, but I learned a lot from this and enjoy the dry humor ( ex: "The Beranek Effect" ). Highly comprehensive and there have been changes made to my stereo system as a result of reading this; I often refer back to it.

Acoustics: Sound Fields and Transducers is a thoroughly updated version of Leo Beranek's classic 1954 book that retains and expands on the original's detailed acoustical fundamentals while adding practical formulas and simulation methods. Serving both as a text for students in engineering departments and as a reference for practicing engineers, this book focuses on electroacoustics, analyzing the behavior of transducers with the aid of stical circuits.

Talk about Acoustics (Electrical Electronic Engineering)

This is an improvement on my 1954 copy of Beranek's Acoustics, and has much of the same important information (i.e. electrical and mechanical analogs of acoustic systems) presented (somewhat) more clearly, as well as some updated sections on loudspeakers and so forth.
If you, like me, were handed a disintegrating Acoustics Society paperback of acoustics and told to start working on acoustic design, then bought a (very reasonably priced) older hardback of Acoustics but found it to be not much of an improvement, spring for this shiny Modern Textbook version. It might help.
If you are looking for a recreational treatment of the science of sound, this would not be my first choice.

Please seek out the posted errata for this book. It can be found on the Mellow Acoustics site as a PDF. There is a full 20 pages of corrections.

Otherwise, this is a great reference book. It's nice to have the updates to the original Beranek text.

Wonderful book, nothing else to say.
Perhaps, if I really had to find a flaw in Beranek's book I would say that, after all these years, it would really appreciated if someone could re-edit this masterpiece with a more modern latex layout and fonts.
Wanna understand acoustics? Buy this book and perhaps Ingard's one.

An excellent update to the 1954 classic. It is particularly strong in equivalent circuit electro-mechanical modelling and worked example problems. Most of the emphasis is on the acoustics of loudspeakers with clear illustrations.

Apart from some inconsistencies and nomenclature errors. This book is excellent.

Beranek's book has always been one of the "Bibles" in electroacoustics. Now with proper updating it is still going strong.
A someone studying acoustics on his own with only a musical and mathematical background, this book has been invaluable. The only reason I'm going to give it 4 stars is because I'm almost positive there are a slew of misprints in the book; things like references to tables and figures that don't exist (or may just be numbered wrong), blatantly wrong units, variables that are introduced but aren't defined until two sections later. Most of the errors are pretty easy to figure out due to context, but those are only the ones I caught; having so many small errors reduces my faith that this book is free of larger errors.

Nonetheless, this book is outstandingly useful and a must-have for anyone interested in the topics outlined.
