Talk about The Power of Social Intelligence

Should be read by everyone in my opinion. Has helped me socially. Trying to get my kids to read it.

There are not many books that I leave unfinished, but this is certainly going to be one of them.
I braced myself through the patronising tone of the introduction to find myself giving up in the middle of the first chapter; sorry Tony(TM) but you will have to come up with something better than this. Utter waste of time.
Perius
The old Goethe quote goes: Treat others as is they are what they should be, and they will become what they should be.

Well, I'll have to say this book treats others like they are stupid. The book cover should have given the game away, I suppose. Liberate your genius, use a single panacea or mental swiss army knife (the mind map) to become more intelligent, just by applying mind mapping to all and sundry, and by harkening to guru types.

The stories are not much better. Anecdotes tell of people getting smarter, but in reality? Well, the whole book reeks of sales pitch for seminars and other similar books by the same author.

As far as multiple intelligences goes, Buzan has finally nailed the lid on the coffin of that one. Gardner's ideas were always considered rhetoric rather than science, and Buzan seems to have made the rhetoric more woolly. What a muddle!

If you like this particular guru (Tony Buzan) and you are into cult manuals, then you will probably find it tolerable.
