Puccini: A critical biography. This is a reproduction of a book believed to be published in the 1950s. Mosco Carner (born Mosco Cohen) was an Austrian-born British musicologist, conductor and critic. He wrote on a wide range of music subjects, but was particularly known for his studies on the life and works of the composers Giacomo Puccini and Alban Berg.

Mosco Carner, a biographer of Puccini and a conductor, critic and musicologist, died of a heart attack Saturday while on vacation. His ''Puccini: A Critical Biography,'' (1958) was considered indispensable by the London music critic Edward Greenfield. He was 81 years old and lived in London. Dr. Carner was born in Vienna and educated at Vienna University and the Vienna Music Conservatory. He began his career as a conductor the Danzig State Theater. The work was translated into Italian and for it Mr. Carner was awarded the Silver Medal of the Italian Government in 1964.
