This book is very well illustrated with numerous full color images and lots of projects for you to follow. A CD is included with the tutorial images plus some free fonts and brush presets. Some of the projects are not what I would call basic learning tecniques but rather for intermediate level users. The authors have great technical knowledge but getting the point across simply is not to the same standard. If you have a good basic knowledge of Elements 9 this is a worthwhile book but it is not for beginners

I suspected there was functionality in Elements that I was not using to the fullest extent. This book walks you through every aspect of the Elements capabilities and even tells you how to combine some capabilities to do more than the basics.

Had a lot great ideas.

This book makes it easy to learn adn with a CD that goes with it, you really get the "how to" as well and it was the first book of many that I went through that I was actually able to learn layers from.
????????????????????????
This is a great book. I've been using the Missing Manual for Photo Elements 9 to learn the program and manipulate my images; it's a good guide and I recommend it. However, this volume with it's workthroughs gave me a whole new understanding of how to use Photo Elements' tools. Within minutes I learned tips and tricks that I never knew existed despite going through virtually all of the Missing Manual. The workthroughs aren't exotic- they cover techniques that are very useful for users who want to use the program for a little more than adjusting a photograph's basic lighting and color. I suppose it's debatable whether this volume could stand alone as a guide to Photo Elements 9; some might want a more traditional text. Never-the-less, I consider this guide indispensable.

I bought a Kindle version. The book itself is good but I'm not fully satisfied: there were no files or something with it. I wanted images at least and videos too. The paperback comes with accompanying CD.

i love this book and have created some neat effects with my own pics. sometimes i've gotten frustrated when i didn't know where to find the specific brushes or blending modes they referred to. this book is definitely not for a total noob at PSE!
Just what I needed! Easy to understand & new creative processes & great pictorials... can't wait to have time to 'play'.
