Once you reach the medical school interview stage of the medical school admission process, it means your GPA, test scores, and application have passed all screenings. It also means you possess the academic credentials required by the medical school. The best way to prepare for medical school interviews is to really think about your path and how you got to the seat in which you are sitting on interview day. This may sound simple, but I am always surprised when candidates who obviously have great experiences and have done all the right things to get into medical school cannot connect the dots in their own experience.

After reading the other reviews, I was expecting much more. This was a book that gives you ideas of designing your own program for preparing and makes solid suggestions, but not practical for most ofthoseinthisactual situation. The short section on sample questions was good, but did not provide as much information as another book which I found more helpful in its approach. To be clear this was not written by a medical person. The book by Jesicca Freedlman MD I found much mo practical and more pointed in its approach to this topic

This book is not for those who want to review common medical school interview topics or get a few quick tips. Rather, it is designed to be a guide for long-term intensive interview preparation, taking place over the course of months. The authors go very in-depth about the science and art of interviewing, explaining when to make small talk, when to get in depth, and what different kinds of questions are trying to get at. There is a helpful list of example questions to prepare for and some general advice, but if this is all that you are looking for you don't need this book. If you have several weeks/months to prepare for interviewing and are willing to put lots of time towards it, then give it a try!

I agree with the first reviewer. I found this book to be especially helpful when it came to the more abstract scenarios in the interview panel. Overall, this book was full of good information and I'm really glad I stumbled upon it. Years ago, after scoring high on the MCATS and feeling pretty confident about the whole process of getting into medical school, I was quite disappointed when I wasn't able to get into any of my top picks. So much so that I abandoned the idea of a career in medicine altogether. Then about a year ago I decided to pursue my dream again and that was around the time I came across this book. It provided me with essential information which I'm certain helped me get through the process. I even got accepted into my #2 school, which is something I can't say happened to many of my peers.

I found most of my med school interviews to be pretty laid back and not the type of thing that required much preparation. However, I had some interviewers (including 2 at my #1 pick) that asked difficult, albeit formulaic, behavioral-type questions. I felt like this book really helped me prepare for these sort of wishy-washy type scenarios. Also, I think the mock interview stuff was pretty awesome- though more difficult than anything i experienced. Overall, this book was worth the $$ to help ease my mind about stuff and I did get my #1 :)
