This is an uncommon copy of the original book which has an index literally several hundred pages in length. Quite delighted with condition. I have and have read the much more commone abridged version, so I know that this is one of the finest quotation books of the 20th century.

I couldn't find what I needed but it is OK

One of the best although an older book. The famed Bergen Evans collected these and gives context and background for the quotes. Very helpful.

This is a very good book. It contains a wealth of knowledge. For example, I am convinced that "faith" is something we should not rely on in life. It is the acceptance as truth what our intelligence, senses, and science say is not true. I found many quotations in this book to support this view.

Faith may be defined briefly as an illogical belief in the occurrence of the impossible.
H. L. Mencken, Prejudices: series III

In the affairs of this world, men are not saved by faith, but by avoiding and surpassing it.
Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard’s Almanac

Faith without work is dead.
James 2:26

He wears his faith but as the fashion of his hat.
Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing 1:1
