Talk about Innately Good: Dispelling the Myth That You're Not

Jan has done a great job in helping us relate to something that is often not talked about. And that is, the understanding that we are "Innately Good" and we need to look at ourselves, within ourselves and accept it. She helps us understand that all of the negative reinforcement we receive throughout our lives that helped shape our lives can be changed with some simple understandings and acceptance of who we really are. I felt like I was on a mini-journey from childhood to adulthood with this book. Jan's faith certainly comes through and her passionate approach to living a more loving and accepting life radiate throughout the book. As a society that constantly worries about what others think and how they perceive us, we are taught the lesson in this book that it really doesn't matter. Jan shows us we can love ourselves and accept the good that we are innately predispositioned for and learn to share it with the world. Thanks for a great book Jan. A very inspiring and thought provoking book that ultimately will have you feeling better and understanding yourself better. Thumbs Up! Way Up!

This book changed my life. If you struggle with knowing you are a good person but have "negative self-talk" within your head...buy this book. And then LIVE this book! I am 40 years old and have just started "LIVING". Thank you Jan Denise (the author) for helping me in a way family, friends and even a counselor couldn't. I am eternally greateful.

FIrst thing I am going to tell you is this book will help you to SAVE YOUR LIFE! Second thing; its not an easy read, and it will take a lot of work to find the results you want. Third, and foremost, the results are more beautiful than you can imagine! A lot of people cannot buy all the way in to the concept that we are "innately good": its not only been beaten into us that we aren't good enough (sinners), we ourselves, virtually almost all of us, have done things that weren't good/nice. Consider the idea that we do things out of reaction(fear) and we do things out of ignorance(learning what is the right thing). We also do what we are told to by our parents; we do what helps us fit into society, and so forth...all a journey to find out what the right thing to do is. To me there is a cascade to follow: knowledge that we are good enough, understanding that we aren't perfect and make mistakes, forgiveness as we realize how we make mistakes, with responsibility to learn from our mistakes. Unfortunately its one thing to understand this at an intellectual level; it's another to truly live it every day.

Well, there's an old saying that goes something like:"the Truth will set you free". So virtually all of us, whether consciously or unconsciously, are trapped (not FREE) under feelings of inadequacy, insecurity or feelings of worthlessness. THe result of these feelings are all the negative feelings we express in our lives: anger, resentment, jealousy, shyness, feelings of superiority, or inferiority, you name it. Virtually all manifestations of either an inflated Ego, or a depressed Ego. Jan Denise explains not only where those feelings come from, and how they dramatically affect the way we live and relate to other people, but also how to free one's self from them. She exposes all the lies we have come to believe thru society, religions, and even parents and describes our true naked essence for the beautiful being we are. The beautiful thing is we can then see past this ''wound" that almost all people carry, to the true essence of all of us. The beautiful thing is then we can begin to live our lives as intended, in love with our selves and everbody/everything around us.

In "Innately Good, Dispelling the Myth that You're Not", Jan Denise has written in a beautiful and open manner, what has resonated within me for a long time. If God is in me, then how can I NOT be innately good? She discusses the many ways we try to fill a void and convince others ( and ourselves) that we are okay, but ultimately, we discover that we were okay all along, just as we are. If one has discovered this truth, this book will simply confirm what you know, and if you haven't discovered this truth, then by all means, this book is a must read. Thank you Jan, for expressing it so beautifully.

Jan Denise's "Innately Good" illuminates the life-affirming concept that we're all "good enough," right from the moment of our birth. She demonstrates that it is definitely possible to overcome the early negative programming of adults and others who may have surrounded us in childhood, and details how to replace it with the understanding that who we are definitely IS "enough", and always has been. Written with honesty, insight and compassion, "Innately Good" gives us a handbook for reframing our lives in a more loving and positive way.

Here is an author whose message has the power and whose life has the active intention to make a difference in the lives of those they touch. She describes the human experience of fleeing the true self in the name of it not being good enough, then projecting an ego to try to seem good enough, then being haunted by the sacrifice of the one thing that matters most - the true self. Her work is tailored to reconnect such wanderers with the true self they abandoned to avoid its pain, vulnerability, and supposed lack of goodness ... even its supposed evil nature.

If Rumi (and others) message of awakening to the deepest self resonates with you, in Jan you have found a guide and an advocate for the sacred journey. Any system that moralizes or judges in regard to this undertaking is wisdomless; any that gently and constructively encourages and inspires it is not only wise, but loving. Walk with this maven of the process and the light can illuminate a new path.
