Once you sell yourself short there is a long way you can fall, and you will fall. You can't compromise who you are and achieve the best results for what you want. You can however stop being the victim and choose a better path in this world. Optimal Thinking puts you with very common sense back in the drivers lane. It evolves and works towards conditioning you into this mindset by doing simple written tasks. Writing things is good for you. If you can't put it down on paper or even digitally then it was never real. If it was never real then you can contest it later as never happening. If you track yourself however it forces you to be honest. Writing and working through the exercises is both cathartic and ever recharging.

You must approach these things with honest responsibility to yourself. If you aren't ready to find your own solutions then don't read this. If you are ready to get real, and get positive with yourself, come on down. I think you might have a thing or two new to learn.

Wow, what a stinker. Like other 1-stars, I was suckered by the many high ratings (who are those people).

Repetitive, light-weight and...maybe just not a book for Midwesterners. The author is like the anti-Garrison Keillor. Don't you deserve the best? Don't you want the optimal in everything?

How about this line, which Glickman helpfully italicized in case you're too dense to recognize its importance: "Optimal Thinking is the the language of your highest self. It empowers you to be your best and stops you from settling for second best." She goes on to explain that Optimal Thinkers use words like "best, greatest, smartest, most important, most profitable, most outstanding." Sorry, to me these people sound like the "most grasping, most annoying, most vain, most greedy, most likely to make others miserable."

Guess that makes me "suboptimal," but probably happier, more empathetic and less likely to be avoided by my peers.

The basic premise is: What is the best thing can I do RIGHT NOW to meet the situation I am presented with? It is a good reminder that WE are ultimately in charge of how we will respond to any given situation. We rarely have total control over our circumstances, but we can choose how we'll face them.

Great book. My wife had been wanting it for a while, so I surprised her with it.
I purchased this book based upon others' online recommendations.
Had I seen it on a store bookshelf first, I would have been able to determine that it makes the same point over and over again in each chapter, and skipped it.
Had I reserved it from the library without seeing it first, I would probably have stopped reading after a couple of chapters.
The distinction between Optimal Thinking and Positive Thinking is well presented at the outset. The rest is filler.
