Nature Exposed to our Method of Questioning explores how we create our cultural assumptions about nature, culture and ourselves. The following four questions frame the study: (1) How do premodern, modern, and postmodern perspectives in art, religion, philosophy, and science differ and interpenetrate? (2) What does it mean to integrate questions and beliefs as we create our living environments? (3) What are symbols and metaphors and how do they contribute to the human dialogue? (4) How do purpose, intention, and consciousness foster creativity and influence our perceptions of human living?

Three conclusions emerged in exploring these questions: (1) The philosophies provided by earlier eras are not comprehensive enough to speak about the nature of our contemporary environment. (2) Contextual examples underscore that explanatory models of reality are creative human inventions. (3) We benefit in defining open models rather than frameworks that attempt to be universal in an all-inclusive fashion.

This book explains not how mathematics developed but how the human mind was capable of conceiving new mathematical ideas prior to doing any math with them. It's a story surprisingly well supported by historical evidence. So, what is unusual and different about quantum measurement? What is the subtle difference that Heisenberg is hinting at here?

If nature leads us to mathematical forms of great simplicity and beauty-by forms I am.This has also appeared in the alternate form: "What we observe is not nature itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning.

If nature leads us to mathematical forms of great simplicity and beauty-by forms I am referring to coherent systems of hypothesis, axioms, et. to forms that no one has previously encountered, we cannot help thinking that they are "true," that they reveal a genuine feature of nature. You must have felt this too: The almost frightening simplicity and wholeness of relationships which nature suddenly spreads out before us and for which none of us was in the least prepared.

A further example of what I found missing in this book, I am pleased to say, can be found in an earlier publication, Nature Exposed to our Method of Questioning.

Integrated case studies allow Ione to put aside C. P. Snow's "two culture" framework in favor of cross-disciplinary examples that refute the science/humanities dichotomy. While not actively conceived as a set, it is intriguing to see that Innovation and Strategies is precisely the right sequel to Nature Exposed.
