Nachmias & Nachmias do an excellent job of clarifying sometimes difficult to understand concepts. They present basic statistical and mathematical ideas in a way designed not to scare off those of us not so good with numbers. At the same time, they cover a vast number of relevant topics. This point is maintained throughout the book. And this made the content of the book systematic. A textbook thats actually readable.

Exellent
This book is the foundational text on research methods in the social sciences. The authors assume that the reader has some prior knowledge of statistics. I did not any prior knowledge in statistics when I read the book. I had no clue what some of the terms meant. I had to take an advanced quantitative course and read three statistical books before I understood most of this book. The authors are very comprehensive. Do not read the chapter on SPSS. Use Andy Field's book on SPSS instead.

Required reading for a class
I purchased as a course text. It is helpful, but a hard read in some cases.
