The original book is great.
The one star review is for the Kindle edition which is terrible. It feels like it's been scanned in and turned into a PDF automatically without a human reading it. Words are missing, punctuation is erratic. It makes it almost impossible to read out loud to my son.
I feel I have been ripped off and should get my money back.

This book reeled me in, and I had a great pleasure reading it, as though I was in this exciting adventure!
I grew up on Enid Blyton and devoured her books. I got my children hooked and now my grandchildren. Those were the days when children were children and were allowed to be children. If Enid Blyton were to return to England today, she would be aghast at what is happening to that once proud country, particularly the youth.
