Scilly Isles travel advice from a local Scilly family on how to get the best out of your Isles of Scilly holiday. The Isles of Scilly has white sand beaches, a subtropical climate, peaceful atmosphere, and surprisingly all this just off the coast of Southwest England. If you get to the Isles of Scilly during good weather then it’s the perfect escape from mainland . Most of my family is from the Isles of Scilly so I have a good understanding of life on the islands having visited and stayed on since a child. It’s such a photogenic destination that the best way for you to get a feel for the islands is through photography.

We bought this book for a two week trip to Cornwall, completed yesterday. The book was exciting and the suggested activities of personal interest. Then we arrived in Cornwall and tried to use it. The references are badly out of date (e.g. the reference for Merlin Glass, when we found them, was perhaps ten years out of date....), directions were careless and often significantly inaccurate, a vital element in an area where roads are often poorly marked, two way but one lane, and go on for miles. We were highly disappointed, and left the book in Cornwall.

If one wishes to find a guide that really covers the duchy, this is it. Most other guides lump Cornwall together with Devon and cover it only superficially, hitting the obvious highlights. This one gives information about all the small places that make Cornwall what it is -- a marvellous place to visit and explore.
